Upcoming Fun Lunch:
The last day to order is May 9th. The lunch will be pasta from Boston Pizza! For Your Information:
The Grade 1/2 students are looking for Vesey’s Bulbs Catalogues. If you have one at home and are no longer using it, can you please send it to school with your child. Thank you very much! Today we... worked on our division skills, thinking of division as an inverse operation to multiplication. We have been editing and typing up our Earth Day diamante poems to get those ready to display. We had Music with Mrs. Hartley and finished our second last soccer class in Gym. Students in grade 6 spent the morning in integration practicing their PATs.
What went well... was working during Art on our Earth paper mache globes. Those globes are now on their second layer of paper mache, with a tissue layer coming up next. Students have also been working hard in Music to learn the songs for the upcoming music performance in May. Reminders... We are planning on heading up to Nose Hill Park tomorrow for a hike! Students need to remember to wear the appropriate clothing (layers) and shoes as we will be off on our hike right after Gym. Please remember to pack a water bottle as well. Soccer Intramurals are tomorrow at lunch recess. Twin Day is on Friday- come dressed as a twin! North Haven Parent Assoc, April 22 Conferences

North Haven Parent Association Today we... worked on our Mondrian fraction art and continued to polish our narrative fiction stories. The students have really seemed to enjoy writing these scary and suspenseful stories and are excited to share them. We had Music with Mrs. Hartley, continued improving our soccer skills in Gym and have been focusing on bullying/teasing in Health. We are going to be focusing heavily on building our positive community in room 7 until the end of the school year so we will keep you posted on the fun things we have in mind!
What went well... was the work students put in on their Mondrian art. We have been working with Mr. Hassett on fractions and it's neat to see students putting the time and effort to complete some very cool fraction art pieces. Reminders... We are headed up to Nose Hill Park tomorrow for a hike! Students need to remember to wear the appropriate clothing (layers) and shoes as we will be off on our hike right after Gym. Please remember to pack a water bottle as well. Soccer Intramurals are tomorrow at lunch recess. There is no school on Friday or Monday. I'm looking forward to seeing students and their families on Monday for Parent-Teacher Interviews from 12:00 - 7:00. Today we...participated with the PLP class as well as a group of grade 5 and 6 students in the MakerSpace for Brixology. We were focusing on engineering tasks this morning and worked in groups to build a space station out of lego pieces. We all worked well in our teams to problem-solve and complete the task, even earning special parachutes to bring home for properly returning all of our lego pieces to their appropriate places. We also had Music class with Mrs. Hartley this morning and are now finishing up our Pet Shelter math project. We begin division in the next few days.
Feedback about our Brixology session: "I liked the mad scientist because he was funny!" (MK) "I liked the building of the lego. I haven't built in a long time and I enjoyed it." (TV) What went well... was the soccer residency. Students seem to really be enjoying having gym outside on the field and working with coach Scott to improve their soccer skills. Soccer is certainly the activity of choice here in room 7 with students electing to play over all of their recesses. Reminders... We are headed up to Nose Hill Park tomorrow for a hike. Students need to remember to wear the appropriate clothing and shoes as we will be headed there following our soccer class. Soccer Intramurals begin next week so students need to remember to sign up if they are interested to join intramurals over lunch recess. |
