Today we started with playing a game around sequencing the days of the week and months of the year using the words 'next, before, after, tomorrow, yesterday'. Then, we read the next part of Annie. The students are getting really good at hearing details in the story and recalling them during retelling opportunities. We then worked together to write an Excellent Ending for a story, and each person continued to work on the stories that they have been writing. Some students have started typing their stories on the laptops.
After an indoor recess, the students had their final Integrated Inquiry Hour. These inquiry times have been a great opportunity for everyone to work with their peers from other classes, and have new learning opportunities. We ended the day with some math games in the classroom, to practice counting, spatial reasoning and other math skills. **Reminders: - Whole school photo is Monday - ALL library ooks are due June 7 - Gr. 6 Parents: end of year trip forms are going home today and need to be returned next week, Gr. 6 Farewell Assembly is June 24 at 9:00 Have a nice weekend, Ms. Anderson

The students are continuing to work on representing and ordering numbers, one more/less, as well as using a bar model to represent and solve an addition word problem. They are all working really hard in math this week! After lunch the students had gym outside, and had the opportunity to move and use the equipment in their own way. We then had library for our final book exchange of the year. All library books are due by June 7. After recess, we had math and continued to practice representing numbers and ordering numbers, as well as solving word problems using the bar model. Next, we had science. The students made predictions about what would happen to balloons on top of flasks that were put into hot and cold water, and then we experimented as a group. The students focused on making observations and making inferences using what they saw. After lunch the students had frisbee in the gym, and then we had art. We went outside and gathered natural materials, and then used paint to make prints with these materials. Each person is improving in their ability to find the keys, recognize and use capitals, use spaces, and type at a faster speed. We finished our technology session with a Kahoot! quiz. The students then had math. Some students practiced 'one more/less' and worked on representing numbers, while others started to use the bar model to solve word problems. After lunch we had gym outside in the sunshine, and played ultimate frisbee to practice throwing and catching a frisbee. Finally, we had cooking.
