Voyageur pictures should be labelled and ready for marking on Monday March 4. Venn Diagrams comparing Festival du Voyageur and Carnaval de Quebec will be due on Wednesday March 6. In PE: Students have been enjoying playing games using scooters this week In Math: Today we spent time reviewing the traditional long division algorithm and the acronym to use to remember the algorithm steps: Divide Multiply Subtract Bring Down Repeat Both grades practiced using the traditional algorithm. Grade 5 students worked this week on interpreting reminders when dividing. Grade 6 students extended their use of division to divide decimals. Big Seven and Traditional Algorithm anchor charts should now be finished. We also began division problem solving tasks tied to our Stewardship Inquiry Group work. We will continue to work on these problems next week. In Health - we discussed the new Canada Food Guide and how to design a healthy plate of food. The students received a Food Journal that they will complete every day for a week - due Thursday February 28 In Humanities: Social Studies: Grade 6 Students worked on their Democracy in Ancient Athens Visual Journal pages. They are reminded to use their assignment sheet as a checklist to ensure all project components are included. Grade 5 Students worked on the Histories and Stories Assignment 2 - Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Lowlands In Science: Grade 6 Plotting the Path of the Big Dipper assignments should be finished on Thursday February 28. Reasons for the Seasons assignments will be marked on Thursday February 28. Sky Science unit test - Monday March 4 Students have a hard copy of the study notes. They are also posted in the shared science file on Google Drive. Grade 5 students - Which Insulator is Which experiments should be finished by Thursday February 28.
