In PE- students continued developing our skills through a game of volleyball. Halloween: Students are able to dress up in the afternoon, students are to get ready during the lunch hour. Students should wear costumes that do not have violent themes, a mask, make-up, or weapons. If you would like to bring in a snack for the class it is to be a healthy snack. (NO peanuts allowed as their is a severe peanut allergy in the class). Today was a very busy and productive day in Room 10!
- In Humanities: Grade 5 students finished up their Canada Map and physical regions overlay. We also started a long term physical regions project called Canadian Regions:Amazing Race Grade 6 students continued working hard to complete the final elements of their Democracy Lapbooks. - In Math Patterns unit tests were handed back. Corrections on these tests are to be completed on lined paper. Tests with parent signature as well as corrections are due Wednesday October 24. Gr. 5 and 6 students began work on Place Value/Numeration with Grade 5 students working on reading, modeling, and writing large numbers to hundred thousands in words and in standard form. In Math, Mr. Hassett our math coach joined our discussion around our Handshake Problem. We shared lots of ideas about how to explain our solution. The Handshake Problem write up is due on Monday October 22. In Science students worked hard. Grade 5 students handed in their Wetland Webs and began working on the Save the Wetlands multimedia presentation. Grade 6 students finished their Tree and Leaf Identification Booklets. Those students who have not finished took the project home for homework due Monday. Please work independently on the project. In Humanities, Grade 5 students continue to work on their maps of Canada outlined on a previous blog. Grade 6 students continue to work on the Democracy Lapbook project. REMINDERS:
Today in Room 10 In the morning we had an assembly featuring Frisbee Rob - he talked about setting goals and working toward them, getting outside and decreasing the amount of time spent on screens. He even challenged students to go one day without screen time!
