Child Care Program Update: Dear North Haven School Families: I wanted to connect with each of you to share some exciting news in regards to the child care programming at North Haven School. As you know, a decision was made by the school to cease the programming of Summit Kids at the North Haven site effective June 28, 2019. I understand that this news can initially create some uncertainty and anxiety for our families who rely on before/after school care as part of their work schedule. Please know that I have been working with our school board’s leasing department over the past several weeks to interview and select a new child care provider for our North Haven site and families. With ongoing feedback from a variety of stakeholders, coupled with high levels of staff turnover, it was evident that the time had come for North Haven to branch out in a new direction with regards to programming options within our before/after school care. I am happy to share with all of you that after a thorough search ‘TOPP Kids Out of School Clubs’ has been selected as the new before/after school care provider for North Haven School effective September 2019. TOPP Kids comes with high recommendations from other Calgary Board of Education school sites and I was particularly impressed with the programming options shared during our screening process. TOPP Kids is committed to a smooth transition for families and we have arranged to have priority given to families who are currently enrolled in our before/after school care program. This includes continuing to provide Kindergarten enhancement programming throughout the day, as well as ‘drop in’ options for families requiring care on select dates. I have also worked to ensure that costs for programming are reasonable for families while providing high levels of professionalism and quality, engaging programs for our students. I invite all families to visit the website to learn more about TOPP Kids, including their entry plan for our school site: http://www.toppkids.com/locations/north-haven-school/ I will be sharing more information as we work with TOPP Kids to transition into our school site in preparation for September 2019. I have also planned to have TOPP Kids representatives be present at our Student Learning Conferences on April 22nd to meet with our families and answer any questions that may arise over the next few weeks. I want to assure all our families that we will work to ensure a smooth transition to TOPP Kids at North Haven School. I can promise each of you that we will continue to support our before/after school care programming as we understand the important role out of school care plays in supporting the work schedules of our families. Please feel free to connect with TOPP Kids directly to enquire about new and continuing registrations for September 2019. Should you have additional questions please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your continued support as we work with our school community to provide quality out of school programming for our students. Sincerely, Kevin Howell Principal
