Floor Hockey Intramurals started today. The students played hard and were great sports! The student referees did a great job as well! Mrs. Hastie will be starting up a Coding Club! It will run it over lunch hours (12:00-12:30pm) on Tuesdays in Room 10 beginning Dec 4. The club will run until the end of February. There will be space for 25 passionate coders! We will be starting Literature Circles beginning Monday November 26. We are looking for parent volunteers with valid security clearance to come in to read with student groups from 10-10:30 daily. 5 volunteers are needed. In French - we continued to work on the L'horaire project. We are learning subject names and how to tell time in French. Scripts were to be finished by Tuesday. We will continue to film the interviews. In Music - Students did testing for Hot Cross Buns on the recorder and played Dixie Cat our performance piece for the Community Outreach Night. The music room is open at some lunch hours for students to practice In Gym - Students learned some stick-handling skills in hockey and how to keep the puck away from another player. In Math- Students worked on decimal place value questions. We will be having a unit test on Thursday next week. In Science: Grade 5 - Today students continued to work on their Cloud Study Project. The project deadline has been extended to Wednesday December 5. Grade 6 - Students continued to work on their poetry and art pieces for their Moon Journal.The Moon Journal Project integrates Science, Humanities and Art. This project is due December 14. Moon Observation - Students will continue to observe the moon nightly for homework one month. It is due on December 20. Each class had the opportunity to participate in inquiry activities in these areas: Environmental Stewardship/Indigenous Connections - Visioning for a Naturalized Schoolyard/Learning Ground Art/Indigenous Connections - Ted Harrison based art connection to Grade 5 studies of the Arctic STEM/Indigenous Connections- A STEM challenge related to Indigenous housing in the Arctic Region.
