This will be our final blog post here as we move our communication to our online learning Brightspace course. Please see below for a repeat of the message that you received by email earlier today.
Dear Parents and Students, Thank you for your patience as we have worked through some necessary planning in preparation for resuming structured learning opportunities for your child. We understand there has been plenty of uncertainty about what learning is going to look like moving forward. We can assure you that we are going to work on key learning outcomes at-home within the parameters established by the province and CBE. To help us understand your family’s access to technology, you have received an email from us today asking the following: § Does your child have access to a computer, laptop, iPad/tablet, smart phone? § Does your child have access to the Internet? § Does your device have access to a microphone and a camera? § How many children in the house are sharing technology? § Is your only option a paper-based education for your child? § How is your family doing? Is there anything your family needs? Starting Monday April 6, 2020, you will receive from us a weekly learning plan. Each week’s plan will highlight what we are working on, will include various resources and will explain the activities or tasks we would like your child to work on. It will also include how you can support and how we will be able to facilitate learning. We will primarily be communicating with you and your child via our Brightspace course which can be found on our school website. Please use the link for technical support with Brightspace. In time, we intend to supplement student learning with tools such as Google Classroom and if necessary, will replicate lessons into a paper format. Of course, you can always call us for support. Students and/or parents can reach out to us for help or for clarification via e-mail from Monday- Friday between 8am – 11am. We can be reached at: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] If the questions come in during the weekday, we expect to be able to answer most questions that same day. Tomorrow (Tuesday, Match 31) we will email you with more information about the format for learning and clarify our weekly schedule which will begin on April 6th, 2020. By Thursday we will be providing some online learning experiences to familiarize students with our new routines. We recognize this is new for most of us and we will engage in this new adventure together. We am here to support your child and look forward to being in regular contact while we learn and work from home. Thank you, Grade 5/6 Team Janelle Hastie [email protected] Jana Robb [email protected] Brandi O’Brien [email protected] Jessica Maheu [email protected]
